AWT, Reverse Osmosis for Steam Generator - June 2011

The Problem...

Our client was having issues with scale build up their steam generator. This was causing reduced heat exchanging efficiency, carbonic acid build up in their steam as well as erosion in the gaskets and valves in the steam line. The issues were so severe that on a number of occasions the water tubes inside the steam generator were completely blocked, causing the system's safety features to shut the generator down due to back pressure. This problem was costing lots of money, both in repairs and replacing parts, as well as hugely costly downtime in production...

And that's where we have been helping them. Below are a few of our recent projects associated with boilers...

Legionella Control in a Large School - March 2011

The Problem...

Advanced Water Treatment was approached by staff at a large, multi-building secondary school, who were unsure about their requirements with regards to Legionella and the ACOP L8. Whether or not their existing systems and procedures were sufficient and what actions they could take. They had an existing risk assessment, however were uncertain as to its validity and its compliance to current guidelines. They needed to have a conversation with someone who they could trust to give them accurate, up to date, expert advice and create a plan for the most cost effective solution.

The Solution...

Steam Boiler on a farm - February 2011

The Problem...

A farm which had been left inactive for a number of years, was taken over by a company wishing to go back into production. There was a steam boiler on site which had been used to generate steam to dis-infect some produce storage sheds. The location of the farm meant that the mains water feed was 'hard' meaning it contained many dissolved minerals. If the boiler was fed with mains water there would be many problems with scale, corrosion and potentially dangerous gasses build up. There was some water treatment plant on site but exactly what was there, and the state it was in was not certain.

The Solution...
