Deionised Water Systems
Deionised water, also known as DI water, is an essential resource in many industries where water purity is critical. Whether you’re looking for a reliable deionised water system for manufacturing, laboratories, or commercial use, Advanced Water Treatment provides a cost-effective and sustainable solution through our range of plug-and-play deionised water filters.
The Industrial range of Deionisation Cylinders use a mixed bed resin to provide high treated water qualities. Deionisation cylinders are generally used in the production of purified water for manufacturing. Call us on 01553 636532 for help with sizing your filter or for any other questions you might have.
What Is Deionised Water?
Deionised water (DI water) is water that has had almost all of its mineral ions removed—such as sodium, calcium, iron, copper, chloride, and sulfate. This is achieved through a process called deionisation (or deionization, in American spelling), typically using a deionised water filter containing ion exchange resins.
While reverse osmosis deionised water is common in ultra-pure systems, deionisation on its own can produce water with conductivity as low as 1 µS/cm, which is suitable for a wide range of applications.
What Is Deionised Water Used For?
Deionised water has countless uses in industries and environments where water purity affects safety, efficiency, or quality, including:
- Electronics manufacturing
- Pharmaceuticals and laboratories
- Food and beverage processing
- Automotive (including deionised water for ironing and rinsing)
- Medical equipment sterilisation
- Cosmetics production
- Printing and ink dilution
- Battery maintenance (especially for forklifts and solar batteries)
Our Deionised Water Systems
At Advanced Water Treatment, we offer industrial DI water systems built with high-quality components, user-friendly interfaces, and minimal maintenance needs.

- Capacity: 1000 litres at 200 ppm TDS
- Output Purity: 1 µS/cm — food-grade quality
- Connection: ¾″ hosetail – quick connect
- Flow Rate: 0.65 m³/hr
- Compact, plug-and-play design
- No chemicals required
- Simple replacement system: Contact Us, and we’ll deliver your new deionised water filter and collect the used unit
Our deionising water filters use mixed bed resin technology to produce ultra-pure water without needing regeneration chemicals or high setup costs.
How Does Deionisation Work?
The deionisation process removes dissolved salts and ions from water using ion exchange resins. These resins swap unwanted ions in the water (like calcium and magnesium) for hydrogen (H⁺) and hydroxide (OH⁻) ions, which combine to form pure water.
Regeneration
For larger fixed systems, deionization resin can be regenerated with acid and caustic chemicals. But with our cylinder exchange service, you never handle chemicals — simply swap the exhausted unit for a fresh one.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is deionised water?
Deionised water is water purified through ion exchange, removing all charged particles and leaving high-purity H₂O.
What is deionised water used for?
Common uses include lab work, pharmaceutical production, electronics manufacturing, automotive maintenance, and more.
Is deionised water safe to drink?
No. Deionised water is not intended for drinking, as it lacks minerals essential to human health and may be aggressive to pipes and storage tanks.
How do I know when to replace my DI cylinder?
When the water purity drops below your required level (e.g., above 1 µS/cm), it’s time to replace. We can help you monitor and manage replacement intervals.
What is the difference between deionised and distilled water?
Distilled water is purified by boiling and condensing, while deionised water uses ion exchange. Both remove minerals, but DI is often more efficient and scalable.
Can I use deionised water for ironing?
Distilled water is purified by boiling and condensing, while deionised water uses ion exchange. Both remove minerals, but DI is often more efficient and scalable.
How do I buy deionised water or a deioniser?
You can buy deionised water or a deioniser system directly from us. Contact us or order online for fast UK delivery.
